Who are you?

Nobody important or well-known. I don't mod any events and I barely participate in namespace fandom, but I thought a calendar would be useful and so I created one. I am also only one person, not a team of people, so please be patient if you send me an email and I am slow to respond.

What events are included in this calendar?

All eligible events that I know about will be included in the calendar. A spreadsheet of all events in the calendar is located here.

What makes an event eligible?

Information about eligible events is located here.

How often do you update the calendar?

I update this calendar (and check associated emails/forms/communities) on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

How do you learn about events for this calendar?

I follow [community profile] fandomcalendar to see events that are advertised on Dreamwidth, and I have an Event Nomination Form for people to anonymously tell me about events I might've missed. I do not have a Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, or other account, so if you see an event advertised on another site that you think should be included, please let me know.

Can I tell you about events that you haven't included and get them added to the calendar?

Yes. You can tell me about bangs, fests, challenges, exchanges, and kinkmemes with either this anonymous form or by emailing me at fanwork.events.calendar@gmail.com. As long as the event is eligible, it will be included in the calendar and added to the spreadsheet of included events.

Can I follow this calendar in my own calendar?

There are multiple ways to follow this calendar, and you can choose which works best for you.

  • By creating a TeamUp account: If you create a free TeamUp account, you can subscribe to any of the calendars/subcalendars yourself. This will give you the most management capabilities in terms of notifications, but keep in mind, I will be able to see your email address. Please don't sign-up with an email address that reveals any sensitive personal information (full name, birthday, etc.)

  • By emailing me your email address: If you don't want a TeamUp account, you can email me your email address as well as what subcalendars you're interested in, and I can add you to the subscription section manually. By default, you will get a daily summary of when the subcalendars change, and I can remove you from the list by request as well if you are no longer interested.

  • By data export: I recommend this option the least, but if you'd like a snapshot of the calendar as it exists (that will not update when I add or modify anything) I can export the calendar data as an .ics or .csv file and email it to you. This might be helpful if you want to create a calendar of your own, but again, it will not update when I make changes.

How can I find events for my fandoms in the calendar?

The search function on TeamUp allows you to search for an exact phrase using quotes. Wherever possible, I wrote the event descriptions based on the event's community information, and so the full name of the fandom should be in the description. Please let me know if I missed any or made any typos.

How can I find events that allow fic/art/vids/podfic in the calendar?

The search function on TeamUp allows you to search for an exact phrase using quotes. When writing descriptions for exchanges, I tried to include the following so that participants could find their relevant mediums:

  • Fic: searching for the exact phrase "Fic min" will find all events that allow fic, and the minimum word count (if available.)

  • Art: searching for the exact phrase "Art min" will find all events that allow art, and the minimum standard (if available.)

  • Podfic: searching for the exact phrase "Podfic min" will find all events that allow podfic, and the minimum length/word count (if available.)

  • Fanvid: searching for the exact phrase "Vid min" will find all events that allow fanvids, and the minimum length (if available.)

  • Fanmixes: searching for the exact phrase "Fanmix min" will find all events that allow fanmixes, with the minimum song count (if available.)

  • Other mediums: some events allow gif sets, moodboards, etc. Search for the word "medium" to find these events.

For bangs, challenges, and fests, most mediums were allowed, or part of the event itself. Further information can be provided on request.

Can I change the information you have provided for an event?

Yes. There are two ways to change the description I have for an event if you feel it is incorrect or incomplete:

  • As a participant: email me the additional information and I will modify the event in the calendar if necessary.

  • As a mod: you may either email me the additional information you would like added (as above), or write the description yourself and email me the new description.

My email is fanwork.events.calendar@gmail.com

Can I ask you to remove events I mod from the calendar?

Yes. If you mod an event you would like removed from the calendar, you (or someone representing your interests) can email me. No explanation is needed, but I do require proof that you are the mod/representing the mod in question before the event will be removed.

Can you add a sub-calendar for flash exchanges?

No. The version of TeamUp I use (free) has a maximum of 8 subcalendars allowed, and I'm using all of them currently. Even if I had two more subcalendars available, it is not feasible for me to track exchanges that might be announced, begin, and run to completion within the space of a week.

If anyone would like to create a similar calendar for flash exchanges, however, I am more than happy to help anyone learn to use TeamUp.

Would you include a specific flash exchange if you knew about it in advance?

Yes. If a multifandom or single fandom flash exchange is planned, I will include it by request for the known schedule. I will not include an estimated schedule for this event.

Will you ban events ran by certain people/about certain canons or subject matter?

Generally no. Even if an event is not to my taste, it will be included as long as it meets the guidelines laid out in the Eligible Events Information.

Can you change the colors of the calendars?

In a limited capacity. TeamUp has 48 colors you can choose from for the sub-calendars, and none of them provide the high-contrast that I would like. If you have problems distinguishing the colors of the calendars, I suggest you use the left sidebar to turn off calendars that are not of interest to you.

Can I email you about something else?

Yes. All questions/comments are welcome.
